Since our beginning at Avante Nursing Home of Jacksonville Beach in 1992 this outreach to the elderly and infirm has expanded to several sites comprising of six congregations where we hold regularly scheduled meetings. We minister throughout the week and are available to help “on call” as requested which has been in the middle of the night at times.
Outside of meetings, we offer personal ministry, visitation in hospitals, hospices, various rehabilitation centers, and in homes. We also provide memorial services, on-site funeral services, musical presentations, referrals to quality professional providers for elder care, and counseling to family members, friends, and caretakers of elderly residents.
Our services are offered free of charge to the elderly with no regular funding except for a few hundred dollars per month from two of the six sites we serve. We are very grateful to everyone who has taken an interest in this ministry and especially those who have sacrificially prayed for and helped support this outreach to a wonderful older generation!
As we have never received a Legacy, Bequest or remembered in a Will from an elderly person, we feel that demonstrates that we do not manipulate the elderly for financial gain. We seriously desire to "store our treasures in heaven" and trusting the Lord for our support instead of wasting time and effort in fund raising attempts.
We trust that those who still remember us are storing up for themselves much treasure in Heaven. (Matthew 6:20) Our ministry presents the full Gospel in a non-denominational perspective and many of the elderly we meet with have said that they never really understood the gospel until attending our services ~ many have accepted Christ over these 30 years!
